Halfway Creek Photography started out in early 2013 as a collaboration between Debi Garlock & Robert Smith after shooting a few weddings together and finding that they both brought something different to the table, and that it worked quite well together. They realized that shooting two very different styles for one event gives the clients a better range of images to chose from.
Debi is a graduate of Ridgewater College in Willmar MN, and studied Professional Photography Technology. After years of shooting weddings with various photographers She decided to strike out on her own. She prefers a photojournalistic approach to photography. Documenting the events as they unfold, and giving the clients the full story of the day though her images.
Robert started in photography in 1996 when his art teacher suggested photography and darkroom classes to fill in some time. Finding he really enjoyed this he took a job as a photo lab technician while going to Bemidji State majoring in Fine Art with an emphasis on photography. After moving with his wife to the Buffalo MN area he took a job managing a small photo studio to get more time behind the camera. Robert prefers the classic approach to photography. Lighting,Formal Posing, and Composition.
